Left-Handed Scholarships Really Do Exist but They May Not Be What You Would Expect. This may be something that you've only heard rumors of but left-handed scholarships do exist. The bad news is that these scholarships are extremely rare and you’re not going to get a grant based solely on the fact that you’re left handed, there are other requirements.
The reason they exist is that in a world where the vast majority of people are right-handed it can be considered a slight disadvantage to be left-handed considering all the right his equipment that exists. Not only that but left handed people only make up around 10% of the population in the United States of America.

The Frederick and Mary F Buckley Scholarship Program
The Frederick and Mary F Buckley scholarship program is one of the few left-handed scholarships in the nation. This scholarship program was created in 1979 by Mary Frances Buckley and since then has helped 40 students earn a college education.
There are several qualifications such as -
- you must have been enrolled at Juniata College in Pennsylvania for at least one year
- you must be left handed(of course)
- you must have a record of exceptional leadership skills
- you must have a grade point average no lower than 3.39
This scholarship awards $1000-$1500 every year to those who qualify. The money covers transportation, dormitory, food and academic supplies. It may not seem like much but every little bit helps.
Just to clarify what is meant by “exceptional leadership skills”, it doesn't mean that you are a manager at the local Dairy Queen. To establish that you have exceptional leadership skills and to qualify for left-handed scholarships it would be best to take part in a variety of on-campus clubs and organizations.
Leadership skills do not happen overnight and to truly impress the screeners for the scholarship you're going to want to work your way up through the ranks of these clubs and organizations at a steady pace. By proving that you are adequate follower will slowly begin to gain the skills that will gradually transform you into a capable leader. Not only will this help you possibly get the left-handed grant but it will also serve you well in life itself since it is a known fact that leaders always accomplish more than followers do.
What it really comes down to is the fact that being left-handed is simply not enough to earn this scholarship. Having good grades and proving yourself as a great leader are vastly more important if you want to get the Frederick and Mary F Buckley scholarship than simply being left-handed.
It is somewhat ironic but the only reason this scholarship is available only to left-handed people is to show that an individual can be successful regardless of their physical attributes.

While the Frederick and Mary F Buckley scholarship program is the most prominent grant for students for left-handed that is not to say that other left handed scholarships may not exist. These days you can find a scholarship for just about everything so don't give up hope in your search for left-handed scholarships.
