Act Now-There Are Hundreds of UNCF Scholarships That Can Help You Get the Degree of Your Dreams. If you're an African-American from a low income family and have great aspirations of going to college and getting a higher education then UNCF scholarships can help. These scholarships are intended to help close the gap in education between African-Americans and the majority population. Their motto is "a mind is a terrible thing to waste" and this can be seen in the variety of scholarships are they offer.

 

The UNCF General Scholarship

When people think of UNCF scholarships may times they only consider the general scholarship that they offer. This scholarship offers $5000 and can be helpful to student to have over a 2.5 GPA the application deadline is May 15 so act early to take advantage of it.

 

While the UNCF general scholarship can be helpful in its own right it is required that you apply for it order to qualify for other UNCF scholarships. This is something to keep in mind if you want to take advantage of the other scholarships offered by the UNCF.

 

There are literally hundreds of other scholarships offered by the UNCF and many of them are very situational and have a variety of qualifications that must be met in order to apply for them. Here is an example of a few of them -

 

The Armstrong, Earl & Patricia Scholarship

This particular scholarship awards up to $3000 for students who are majoring in pre-medicine, health and biology. You are required to have a 3.0 grade point average or higher to qualify. This is one of the more flexible UNCF scholarships and doesn't have a lot of restrictions.

 

ABC Studios Production Associates Program

This scholarship is awarded to students who are interested in television production. The main purpose of this scholarship is to reimbursement for travel and relocation expenses. Up to $5000 can be awarded and often times recipients are also offered entry-level positions the television production field. This fact alone makes this a highly sought after scholarship.

 

Berbeco Senior Research Fellowship

This is one of the lesser-known UNCF scholarships by can be quite helpful for college students who are beginning their thesis and wish to do independent research outside the United States. Up to $6000 is awarded to undergraduate juniors who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

 

Carpenter, Doris & John Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students who are deemed to have the greatest financial need. This is usually assessed when you apply for the general scholarship. Either $2000 or $5000 can be awarded to undergraduate freshman with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. This is only for schools who are UNFC members.

 

ChevronTexaco Scholars Program

This scholarship program is for students who are majoring in engineering and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Up to $3000 can be awarded to undergraduate sophomores and undergraduate juniors. Only students attending Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, or Tuskegee University will be considered.
